The Drieberg Brothers - View from The Hill
Over a year since their last Ellington summit, the Sold out show "Violin and Beyond", powerhouse brothers Daniel and Joel Drieberg make a highly anticipated return to the Ellington stage, joined by Flavio Colonetti and Finn McKibbin. If you have ever seen the Drieberg Brothers before, you will know to expect the unexpected.
Since 2023's "Violin and Beyond", Daniel Drieberg has spent time living, learning and performing in New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles. In January, he was given the esteemed Golden Fiddle Award at Tamworth Country Music Festival. Daniel's versatility and passion for cultural exchange through music has found him to be sought after as a session musician in many different settings and styles.
Joel Drieberg was a 2024 James Morrison Jazz Scholarship Finalist and began his journey at WAAPA this year. His enthusiasm is infectious and shines bright in his approach to drumming.
Flavio Colonetti is a young gun pianist undertaking his graduation year at WAAPA and making waves in the WA scene as a pianist and composer. Drawing from a blend of influences including Oscar Peterson, Brad Mehldau, and Shai Maestro, Flavio has an indelible and versatile musical voice.
Finn McKibbin is also in his graduation year at WAAPA. As a jazz bassist and improviser, Finn has burst onto the scene within the last year, performing across many of Perth's biggest stages, alongside some of the finest musicians in the city's rich musical landscape.
Rest assured, this one of a kind ensemble will present many discoveries and places which they have encountered along their eclectic and rich musical journeys. You will hear unique interpretations of classic standards, modern favourites, and hidden gems from artists including The Yellowjackets, Chick Corea, and Pat Metheny. Definitely not to be missed.
